Description:
Dear Learner,
This course is prepared based on the new Ethiopia’s English language curriculum which was developed in 2022. We believe that the course serves two purposes. Firstly, it will help you improve your overall English language proficiency and skills. Secondly the course will significantly support you to do the other subjects smoothly as English is the medium of instruction in secondary schools.
The course is organized based on the four major skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and the other two sub-skills (vocabulary and grammar). Therefore, every unit begins with a listening lesson followed by speaking skills. Then, reading skill is taught along with vocabulary. Grammar is taught as a separate skill. The unit ends with a writing lesson.
This English language course is divided into two modules. Each module has five units. Accordingly, Module One covers such topics as “Living in Urban areas, Study skills, Traffic Accident, National parks and Horticulture” Similarly, Module Two includes five topics under each unit: “Poverty in Ethiopia, Community services, Communicable diseases, Fairness and Equity and The Internet”.
